How to get Excellent Battery Life on Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 N5100
How to get stable, excellent and consistently good battery life on Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 N5100 8" tablet?
Let me show how this can be achieved. After going through many posts, reading many articles in XDA forum and other website below are the steps that are required to get consistent battery life.
Starting with installation of ROM
Choose the right firmware
If it is Stock firmware then go for XCMH2 but if it is Custom ROM then X-Note 5.1 build has been excellent.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2345299
1) Before installing any ROM , stock ROM or Custom ROM
it is important to Wipe Data, Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvich Cache
2) After installing the firmware do not check anything while you are setting up your Google account. Do not back up your settings to Google account.
3) Do not sync anything into your Google account like contacts, photos.
4) Auto sync -> Google account - > put sync on first in the notification bar and then go to your Google accounts and uncheck everything, then disable the "auto sync" from the notification bar. Once done remove Auto-Sync.
5) Go to Settings - > More Settings -> Mobile Networks -> Network Mode -> GSM only

There are some Google Apps which keep running in the background and drain the battery unnecessarily. It is important to take control of such applications.
Google Play Services,
Google Contact Sync
Google Bookmark Sync
Google Calendar Sync
Google Search
Google Chrome
Google Search -> Freezing this application is enough unless you are avid user of Google search
Install ROM Toolbox Pro application or any other application that has the ability to freeze applications and convert the system application into user application.
Install Aptoide application. You can get it by clicking on Aptoide apk which is a free apk available on line.
Uninstall Google Play Services and Google Chrome which was installed along with firmware using Rom Tool Box pro or Titanium Backup Pro.
Install the latest Google Play Services and Google Chrome from Aptoide.apk and then Convert it to user app using Rom Tool Box Pro.
How you to convert it to user app? Open ROM Tool Box pro -> Go to "App Manager" -> Below Select System apps -> Then you tap on Google Contact Sync -> you will get lot of options -> Swipe to right -> you will find the option to Convert this system app into user app.
Same way do it for Google Bookmark sync, Google Calendar Sync, Google Chrome.
Now open Greenify application -> Except Launcher, Enable Call recording Mod in Xposed and Viper4Android Music effects select all other applications to Greenify. Here you will find Google Bookmark Sync, Google Calendar Sync, Google Play Services, Google Contact Sync. Hibernate all these applications.
Now open Rom Tool Box Pro and Freeze the below
Google Play Services,
Google Contact Sync
Google Bookmark Sync
Google Calendar Sync
Google Search
Google Chrome
Chat on
Google +
Hangouts
Alarm
Calendar Storage
Elm Agent
FWupgrade
Samsung Account
Polaris Office
S Voice
Samsung apps
Samsung Link
Samsung Push Service
Facebook SNS

Story Album Widget

Yahoo, Kies Google Play Music which were pre-installed with firmware were uninstalled.
Install System Control Application -> set the Governor to pegausq min 200 Mhz, and max 1600 Mhz
Install Android Firewall 2.3.4 by Jason Tschohl
Charging Method
Always charge Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 from 0 to 100% at a stretch. Do not unplug the charger before it shows 100%.
Put the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 for charging only if it is 1% or below 3%.
Usage:-
When you open any application, it is active and in Greenify it will come out of hibernation. So it is important to make it sleep once you finish using that application. For example:- you opened Sudoku and played it for a while. Once you close the application open Greenify and you will find it not hibernation. Then press and hold on Sudoku application and click on " ZZZZZZ" which means hibernate.
Then open Task Manager -> RAM Manager-> Clear Memory. And then you let the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 Screen off.
When you are not connected to WIFI -> Open Android Firewall -> Enable Firewall without selecting any applications. This setting helped in curbing battery drain to great extent.
When you are connected to WIFI -> You can disable firewall to browse INTERNET.
Why we need to follow the above steps? In my experience I have found that lot of battery was draining overnight when the Tablet was idle. This means battery will finish quickly and you have to search for power outlet frequently. To avoid this we need to prevent battery from draining during standby or idle mode. This is where Greenify, Android Firewall and Task Manager help in making the applications sleep when not in use.
Remember to close down all the applications before screen turns off. If you forget to close the open applications then battery drain might be more overnight.
By following all the above steps I was able to get a Maximum battery life of 11 days (in terms of days) with Screen on time of 8 hours. And a Screen on time of 11 hours 12 minutes over a span of 4 days and 20 hours.
Following these steps helped me get excellent battery life out of Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 and I am confident everyone who has Note 8.0 can achieve same or even better results by following these steps.
Please note:- I don't user Power Saving Mode or Flight Mode or Battery Doctor or Wake Lock Detector.
It is possible to achieve excellent battery life with Custom Firmware like X-Note 5.1 or using Stock Firmware XCMH2.
Rooting is required to take complete control of the device. Without rooting, your options are limited.
Greenify , Xposed Frame work , Enable Call Recording, Android Firewall, Rom Tool Box pro and System Control Panel Pro are the only apps that were required to perform the above steps.
